Classic Lasagna

Ingredients:

9 lasagna noodles
1 pound ground beef
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 24 oz jar marinara sauce
1 15 oz container ricotta cheese
1 egg
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup grated parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
Salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375F 190C. Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef, onion, and garlic until meat is no longer pink; drain excess fat. Stir in marinara sauce; bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, parsley, and half of the parmesan cheese.
To assemble, spread a thin layer of meat sauce in the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish. Layer with 3 noodles, followed by one-third of the ricotta mixture, one-third of the remaining meat sauce, and one-third of the mozzarella cheese. Repeat layering twice.
Sprinkle the top with the remaining parmesan cheese.
Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil; bake for an additional 25 minutes or until cheese is bubbly and golden.
Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
